We like a bit of luxury and pampering so we are hosting our holidays in Kymi Palace, the best rated hotel on the island. There is sea view from all the rooms and the sea is only a few meters away. The friendly staff always makes sure to contribute towards the best experience one can possibly have and they are actually more like good friends. The pool feels at one with the sea and the premises can turn into a quiet shelter as well as an energetic celebration.
You will have the chance to follow two 90 minute guided yoga sessions daily. All levels of background and experience can be accommodated and the instructor will be available throughout the day to support you. The teaching style is not limited to one school but is based in Vinyasa, Hatha and Flow yoga, with many opportunities to explore different ways of movement. Blending elements from other styles or even disciplines like dance and taichi will challenge us and help us get the body strong and mind calm.
You will be guided only by certified and experienced instructors with an amazing energy and desire to help you get the best out of the practice. (Olga, the leading instructor for all our yoga retreats, carries more than 10 years of teaching experience around the globe) Read more about the yoga teachers here.
We will be practicing mainly outdoors and you’ll be offered yoga mats and all the necessary props, so there is no need to bring anything with you.
Acro Yoga: a great way to go beyond your individual practice. A fusion of yoga and acrobatics you will be guided by our certified Acro Yoga instructor from the most simple partner techniques to more challenging acrobatic poses and transitions. You’ll discover that you can do so much more than you though possible while having lots of fun.
Excursions: you’ll have many opportunities to get to know the local culture and experience the therapeutic nature to the maximum. The mid-summer retreat (15-22 July) will be a bit less adventurous during the hot hours of the day; no excursions under the hot sun but plenty of things to do in the shade.
Dance like a Greek nights: dancing can be a very liberating experience. Learning Greek traditional dances for the first time is lots of fun. Being good at it is completely irrelevant.
Dance is one of the fundamental cultural elements of any culture worldwide. Experiencing that part brings us closer to how people live and behave in their natural environment. Greece has got deep cultural roots of thousands of years and it’s always beautiful to share elements of it with visitors.
We won’t limit ourselves to Greek dances. If you have a dance you want to share let us know and we’ll include it in our dance evenings.
Games, crafts and exchange of skills: adults are no different to kids when it comes to the need to having fun and playing games. A group game a day keeps a smile of the face so we have something different scheduled for every day.
Do you have a skill you would like to share? Let us know. We love new ideas and each group has a different dynamic making everything more interesting.
The Island of Evia
Evia is the second largest island in Greece, and easily accessible by both land and sea. It takes just an hour drive from Athens to cross the bridge connecting the mainland to the island. Nevertheless, it’s worth the longer trip to reach the magical part overlooking towards the magical Aegean Sea. Beautiful mountains and endless blue sea make the perfect combination for a deep surrender to the power of nature.
The City of Kymi
Our holidays are based close to the mountainous city of Kymi or “Balcony of the Aegean” as it is commonly called. We have chosen to be based closer to the sea, to the part of the island surrounding the local port called “Little Kymi”. The whole area has an incredibly rich cultural history and carries a unique therapeutic energy.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all included in the package. Traditional dishes are prepared with love and the most fresh, local ingredients. All diet requirements can be accommodated; we want happy tummies. We encourage you to try the local specialities and be open to experimentation as the area is very rich in almost everything: nutritious vegetables, juicy seasonal fruits, fresh fish, crunchy nuts, aromatic herbs, and many local delicacies. Greeks love their meat and there is a preference for the ethically sourced local kind so if meat is part of your diet you will be treated with the richest flavours. We have even added a glass of local wine with the evening meal in the mix.
